What is the kumqwaat Practice Bowl?

It's a mock version of the World Scholar's Cup Scholar's Bowl event, hosted by kumqwaat, using original questions based on the current year's WSC curriculum.

How do I join the kumqwaat Practice Bowl?

You can join over on our Discord server.

Who can participate in the practice bowls?

Anyone! You don't need to be in a team, solo scholars are also welcome (or non-scholars)!

How often are practice bowls held?

Mini-Bowls are held every Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday. Regular-sized Bowls with prizes are held a few days before each round. You can check out our schedule page for more information on our global-round specific bowls.

How long does each bowl take?

Mini-Bowls take around an hour and a half, while regular sized bowls take around 2 hours and a half.

Curriculum & Scoring

Which curriculum is used in the Practice Bowl?

All questions are based on the official Reigniting the Future curriculum for the 2025 World Scholar's Cup.

Please note: questions may also draw from more recent news and other developments relevant to the guiding questions.

How is scoring calculated?

We calculate scoring to be consistent across every bowl. This means, you can compare your scores between each bowl and compare how well you did in them.

What is the max score?

Teams can score out of 10,000 points.

Can I join with my teammates?

Yes! Only one of you should be holding the device you're answering with.

Can I join as a solo?

Solo scholars are also welcome! They will be scored the same as everyone else, and will be recognized in every award teams are.

Answering & Results

Before every bowl, a Socrative link will be generated. You just need to scan the QR code or go to the link and you will be in the room!

Where do I answer?

Where can I see the results?

Global-special Bowl results are posted on our results page a few days after the results are revealed.

When do the awards get given out?

The awards slides get generated and revealed around 5 minutes after the Bowl ends, so make sure to stay in the channel after the bowl ends!
